Finding Balance

We had a severe drought during the remainder of 2024 here in our part of Mexico. I watched our lake slowly drain while I recovered from a broken hip. During my early stages of recovery I imagined myself like a Frida Kahlo; painting my inner-most feelings while convalescing in bed. I felt a strange simpatico with Lake Chapala. It lost momentum. I lost momentum. I dabbled with the paint while we received the occasional drizzle. So went the rest of the so-called rainy season. 2024 ends.
The 2025 rains brought the lake back up to about 70%. The same could be said for my painting experiences and mood. It was a great time for me to step back and observe; to find some sort of balance in my life - physically and mentally. If I wasn't feeling the pull to go to the studio, maybe what I needed was to socialize (OMG!), spend time in the garden, spend more time with the guy upstairs. No, not that guy. Tom. Tom is my partner who hangs out upstairs. My studio is downstairs. Last year was A Search For Balance. I purposely chose to not show my work. Life was changing and therefor my art was changing.
It is now 6 months into 2026. The rainy season is HERE! I am HERE. Yes, it feels good in a new way.
The name of this painting is: Finding Balance
